Downtown Houston:Dawn on Smith Street

Today's image of downtown Houston.
The shiny buildings down the street are the former home of "the Crooked E", aka Enron. Chevron purchased the buildings in 2011, but they will always be the Enron Buildings to me.

Downtown Houston: Looking up At Rusk and Travis

Today's image of downtown Houston.
This is the corner of the Neils Esperson Building built in 1927 in the art deco style. You can just see the top of the building in the reflection of the building to the left.

Downtown Houston: Downhill All the Way

Today's image is just how I feel, sliding into a 3 day weekend. I like the angles of this image, and the contrast of the shadows against the sidewalk.

Downtown Houston: City Hall

Today's image of downtown Houston is City Hall.
The sun was shining and refreshing, and there was not a breeze in the sky. The azaleas are in bloom, but are just out of frame on this image.

Downtown Houston: Skywalk

So I started working downtown this month, and it is giving me more opportunity to make images of my favorite subject: the urban landscape! Here is one of my images from last week called "Skywalk". I think it combines my love of lines and order with some of the chaos of downtown.

Goldilocks at George Ranch

I attended the Texian Day celebration at the George Ranch late last year. My most reluctant model, my older daughter, accompanied me. She did a little modeling for me in this image. I love the light, the motion as she walked from the window, and teh overall mood of the image. My daughter says she likes the color version better, but this is a color version, I just lowered the saturation to get this mood. I call this one Goldilocks, as it reminds me of a little girl with some big beds that could be for bears.
This image won a first place at the Houston Photographic Society November competition, and I am anxious to see how it does in the annual competition.
