New Mexico Desert

Here is one of my favorites from my recent trip to New Mexico. These Yucca cacti were burned at some point over the summer. It has been very hot this summer with little rain, and wild fires were frequent. There is little to burn out in the desert here except for the occasional prairie grass, yucca, and mesquite trees. This day, there was a fire burning in the distance as we drove from the mountains back to Artesia. It was over 105 F, and I wanted to capture the heat I was feeling as I looked into the sun to capture these 2 torched yucca.

Did I succeed? Do you feel the heat?
